What I liked:
I love how well the author managed to tie each of the family member’s story with another. While reading it may seem as if each story is its on entity, but they soon come full circle and intertwine in an interesting and captivating way. I also loved how realistic the storyline is. Not every family is perfect, and I believe that the author does an amazing job at highlighting that.
What I did not like:
I will admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of how slow the story was when it began. It took a little convincing and arguing with myself to get past the parts that I thought were dragging, but overall I was happy that I pushed through and finished it. Also, the ending was a bit confusing for me. Without giving anything away, I didn’t quite understand if Pat meant Anuhea good, or if she meant to harm her. Hopefully my questions and confusion will be cleared up in the second book.
Would I recommend this? Read it again? Read the next book in the series?
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that’s looking for something fresh and different, and I will be reading the next book in the series as soon as it’s released. I’d also like to take a day to reread this just to make sure there wasn’t anything I missed.
Rating:
I gave the novel seven crowns. 3 stars. I loved it, but wasn’t thoroughly engrossed from beginning to end due to a slow start, so I can’t say that I was obsessed with it.
